Reflection Essay
Anri Maehara

I really had a great experience in Taiwan. I think the experience I had in Taiwan is obviously one of the best things I can have in my whole life.
I was assigned as a member of a press team, and I was the only Japanese in that team, so I always had to speak in English. I think this was a good opportunity to practice talking in English. I did the jobs concerning news, press and interviews. For example, I interviewed Japanese skaters after their performances and translated it into English, found Japanese articles concerning 4cc and translated into English to share everyone and updated some news on Twitter and Facebook using the official account of 4cc. Among those jobs, interviewing the skaters was the most impressive thing for me. This was of course my first time to get this close to the skaters and actually talking to them. I was really excited to interview them but also felt a little nervous. But I was honored to have this great chance to interview the athletes. I was surprised to see how kind skaters were. Even they did a poor performance, they answered my questions very well.
The most impressive thing for me in Taiwan is that I found the kindness of Taiwanese people. When I was working like from morning till night, they always cared about me though they were the ones who worked the hardest. They always asked me questions like, “Did you sleep well last night?,” “Have you eaten lunch?,” or “Shall I bring some foods for you?.” Sometimes they even brought me some Taiwanese foods. Also, there were some of my Taiwanese friend who sent me text messages caring about me. I was so happy to be treated like this by them, and I thought I will definitely treat them when they visit Japan.
