郵便物の到着を確認する
取引先に送った荷物が届いているか確認する際に使えるいろいろな表現です。
- Sato:
- Creative Service Company, Kana Sato speaking.
- Powell:
- Hello, this is Ted Powell from Grayson Foods. I'm calling to make sure if you received the product sample I mailed to you.
- Sato:
- The product sample? I haven't received it yet.
When did you send it? - Powell:
- The day before yesterday. I sent it by surface mail, so it should have been delivered by this morning.
- Sato:
- I didn't receive anything.
- Powell:
- I see ... Well, I'll contact the post office and call you when I found something out.
- Sato:
- Thank you ... Oh, just a second. What did you write for the receiver's name?
- Powell:
- I wrote "Kana Sato."
- Sato:
- Did you write the name of the division?
- Powell:
- No, just the name of the department, "Sales."
- Sato:
- We have two Kana Satos in different divisions but in the same department. The package might have been passed to her. I'll check and call you back.
- Powell:
- I'd appreciate it. I'm sorry for the hassle.

- I'm calling to make sure if you received the product sample I mailed to you.
- I'm calling to make sure ～は「～を確認したくお電話しました」と言う意味です。I'm just checking to see if ～「～かどうかの確認です」や、よりシンプルにHave〔Has〕 ～ arrived yet?やHave you received ～ yet?と言うこともできます。丁寧な表現としてI was wondering if you received ～「～を受け取られたかどうかと思いまして」の形も使えます。
- I haven't received it yet.
- 荷物やメールが届いていないことを伝える表現で、It seems that it hasn't arrived yet.「まだ届いていないようです」と言うこともできます。届いていることを伝える場合にはI received it.「受け取りました」、It arrived yesterday.「昨日届きました」などと言い、最後にThank you.と添えましょう。
- I sent it by surface mail, so it should have been delivered by this morning.
- by surface mailは「普通郵便で」。ほかに「船便で」という意味もあります。「速達で」はby express mail、「書留で」はby registered mailです。「到着しているはずなのですが」と伝えるときは＜should have＋過去分詞＞の形を使って、It should have been delivered by this morning.「今朝までに配達されているはずですが」やIt should have arrived already.「すでに到着しているはずですが」のように言います。
- I'll check and call you back.
- 「確認して折り返し電話いたします」にあたる表現。call you backの代わりにget back to youもよく使われます。同じ意味を表すやや丁寧な表現はI'll have to check on it. Do you mind if I call you back?、ややカジュアルな表現はLet me check and call you back.となります。
- I'm sorry for the hassle.
- 「お手数をおかけしてすみません」という意味です。hassle「面倒なこと」をtroubleやinconvenienceに変えることもできます。また、I'm sorry to trouble you.もよく使われる表現です。
