Wilson:
Hong Kong branch, Project Management, Megan Wilson speaking.
Yokomizo:
Hello, Megan. This is Ken Yokomizo from Sales at headquarters. I was wondering how the design of our new restaurant is going.
Wilson:
Unfortunately, there's one problem. We're having difficulty with the kitchen design. I'd like to confirm this with you, but is it not possible to change your plans for installing an open kitchen?
Yokomizo:
Well, open kitchens are one of the main features of our restaurants. Unfortunately, we can't change our mind about that. What's the problem?
Wilson:
The kitchen would be too cramped if we make it an open style. I'm going to send a tentative design plan later, so could you check it?
Yokomizo:
All right.
Wilson:
The rest is going according to schedule so far, so we should be finished on time.
Yokomizo:
That's good to hear. I'll wait for the tentative design plan, then.
Wilson:
Thank you. Bye.
Yokomizo:
Bye.

解説

I was wondering how the design of our new restaurant is going.
I’m calling to check on the status of ~「~の状況を確認するためにお電話しています」や、How is〔are〕 ~ coming along?「~の進捗状況はどうですか」、What’s the present〔current〕 situation of ~?「~の現状はどうですか」、Could you fill me in on what’s going on?「現状を教えていただけますか」、Have you been making progress?「進んでいますか」といった表現も使われます。
Unfortunately, there’s one problem.
There’s one problem. This is the present situation.「現状はこうです」も使えます。 Let me fill you in on what’s happening.「状況をお伝えします」と言ってもよいでしょう。
The rest is going according to schedule so far, so we should be finished on time.
go according to schedule「予定通りに進む」はscheduleをplanに変えて使うこともできます。
We’re ahead of schedule.、予定より遅れている場合はWe’re behind schedule.
That’s good to hear.
I’m relieved to hear that.「それを聞いてほっとした」と言ってもよいでしょう。
I’m sorry to hear that.「それは残念です」やI’m sorry that ~has happened.「~が起きて残念です」のようにも言えます。
I’ll wait for the tentative design plan, then.
Let me know if you need any help with anything.「何かできることがあればお知らせください」やKeep me posted.「随時連絡してください」(カジュアルな表現)などもよく使われます。
